Top 5 PS2 games we want to see on PS4

Here is the ultimate top 5 list of Playstation 2 classic titles we would love to see on our shiny Playstation 4 systems, please Sony!

The Playstation 2 is without a doubt one of the most successful and well loved console of all time with some truly fantastic titles. Now with many titles making a comeback either by HD remasters or remakes, here are 5 PS2 titles we want to see on the PS4.

Released in 2000, the PS2 was the hotly anticipated console, sequel to the popular PS1 from Sony. The machine went on to sell over 155 million units, making it one of the most successful consoles of all time. What matters for any console are the games and since launch, the PS2 has had 3874 games released selling 1.5 billion copies. Here are our top 5 games we want to see on the PS4:

Metal Gear solid 2 sons of liberty

5. Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty

Yes, we know Metal Gear titles seem to creep onto every list, this one, Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty showed the emotional and graphical capability the PS2 could demonstrate and made it for a stand out title in the series. Whether you loved or hated him, Raiden was a surprising addition to the series and showed Hideo Kojima at his cheeky best. Fans expected more sneaking with Snake but got running with Raiden.

Fortune in MGS

We’d like the game to be remade, possibly from the view of Snake but what would be really cool is a complete remake, playing as the villians of the game, Dead Cell (like Vamp, Fortune etc) trying to stop our heroes. How cool would it be with upgraded graphics, more places to explore as well as the different perspectives, would make an awesome treat for the PS4.

Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness title

4. Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness

Hear us out, we know Angel of Darkness wasn’t great first time round. It did have some nice ideas, that were just badly executed and it tried too much to be everything it’s not (such as stealing Metal Gear’s sneak ‘em up approach) and added in annoying features like stamina meter (why this was ever a good idea when it wasn’t in any of the previous games) and awful controls.

Story in Angel of Darkness

But at the core, is a dark tale that would work well on the PS4. Fix all the problems, remake the game how it was intended and we have a next generation Lara rising like a phoenix from the ashes of the PS2 failure.

.HACK

3. .HACK (series)

Now, .HACK wasn’t met with glowing reviews across the series and is underrated for its time. Set as “a game within a game” known as The World, .HACK is a MMORPG that wasn’t online due to a virus causing all computers to crash. The series was also accompanied with an anime DVD with each of the 4 games in the series. Admittedly, the 4 games weren’t massively different, but if the game were to be remade for PS4 with online capabilities for others to help you play, then this could be a brilliant example of how to do a MMORPG well.

Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup title

2. Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup

This may seem an odd choice, but Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup was a truly unique game that was actually fun to play and creates its own niche in the sports game market. The game was a great example of using a license for a popular film / book series and doing things differently. You could play as Harry, Draco and many other characters (depending on the House you pick to play as in the beginning) and even goes one step further to include characters such as Viktor Krum in the World Cup.

Controls weren’t perfect and graphics now look poor, so updating these and adding more content (such as the ability to play online or being able to create your own Quidditch pitch) will make this a good choice for PS4.

The Getaway titles

1. The Getaway

This is what we are talking about! The Getaway was a little ahead of its time, being delayed 27 months to create London in its finest. The game borrowed ideas from the likes of Grand Theft Auto being a sandbox game, but goes one better by including actual licensed cars (as opposed to fictional ones like in Grand Theft Auto) and is set in the wonderful city of London. Following Mark Hammond, who witnesses his wife being shot dead and his son being kidnapped by the Bethnal Green mob and having to do jobs for them in order to get his son back.

A remake would make this game look glorious in full 1080p HD and maybe an update to the controls, along with extra modes, abilities and of course, more London! The Getaway could once again give Grand Theft Auto a run for its money and delight gamers across the globe.

So there you have it! Don’t agree? Did we miss something? Let us know in the comments!
