Retrospecs makes your photos instantly retro

We take a look at the Retrospecs app and how it creates awesome retro game style images.

Have you ever wanted to give your photos more of a retro feel? Maybe you just wish more images could take you back to the old days of bits and even floppy disk gaming? Well Retrospecs is here to bring back all them good retro days!

Retrospecs is a mobile app (currently only on iOS for £1.49, Android set to be here in 2016) that lets you turn any of your photos into what they would look like on old retro console, portables and home computers from the 70s, 80s and 90s. It even allows you to add different filters and modes to fine tune the image while still keeping that retro looking feel.

The app itself is really easy to use and does a brilliant job in getting your images rendered like an old video game console. Be them images taken with your own phone’s camera or ones pulled from the internet that are not real taken photos this app does great work on generating these images. Every single little detail is added to the images to make sure that come out as best quality as possible, even down to the consoles aspect ratio.

Once you have finished tinkering with your retro gaming masterpiece the app can then save the image to your phone and you are done! We had a good bit of fun with this app messing with all of the console selections, of which there are a huge amount! One surprising thing about this app is it is also pretty professional and fun to use, a lot of apps like these just look sloppy or don’t have any personality, Retrospecs does it right!

Below are just a few examples that we used to test the software there are a heck of a lot more console filters to choose from. The Retrospecs app is a lot of fun and if you are into modifying your images to look funky or just are into the retro scene you will lvoe this app!
