Microsoft Xbox E3 2016 Conference

Microsoft was again the first tokick off the party conferences for this year’s E3. Many, many things were announced in this epic show and so let’s just kick it off and delve right into the announcements.

Project Scorpio

What better way to start then with the announcement of project Scorpio. A new Xbox games console coming next winter from Microsoft. What was announced is the fact that it will have 6 teraflops of power, VR support and true 4k gaming. A true beast of video game consoles is indeed on the horizon.

Xbox One S

The other rumoured Xbox One console was also shown off in the conference in the form of the Xbox One S. With the Xbox One S comes the promise of it being 40% smaller, a new, sleeker controller and 4k HDR video output.

The Xbox One S is set to release this August.

Gears Of War 4

Microsoft killer first party game this Christmas is in the form of Gears Of War 4 was shown off. With the multiplayer beta been made a couple of months ago, I was certainly hoping  for some single player gameplay, and boy did they deliver. Showing off a number of cool new things including a new weapon in the form of the Buzzkiller, which is a spinning metal disc gun. They also showed new enemies in the form of mutated monkeys.

Gears of war 4 is set to release on October 11th

Halo Wars 2

Another game I was truly looking forward to seeing was Halo Wars 2. Showing off a new cinematic trailer from Blur, detailing the fact that you will now be taken on an Ark from the Halo universe. Within this announcement they also announced that a playable beta is available this week and will be released fully on February 21st 2017.

Forza Horizon 3

With a new year comes a new Forza game and this year’s it’s Horizon turn. Horizon this year is set in Australia. The main featured car is the Lamborghini Centenario, which if you’re a car fan like me, you will know how good that car looks. Forza Horizon 3 is also bringing a co-op campaign for the first time this year, which means only one thing. Many drag races with your friends.

Forza Horizon 3 is set to release on September 27th

Dead Rising 4

Another rumoured announcement was the fact that there is a new Dead Rising 4 game coming and they were right. A new Dead Rising was indeed shown, set at Christmas and once again features Frank West taking down hordes of zombies in as many creative ways as possible.

A game that was announced last year was Recore, which made a pleasant return this year. Not much was shown apart from some gameplay elements and also a release date of September 10th.

Sea of Thieves

Rare came out once again and showed off more footage of Sea of Thieves from the perspectives of people playing the game. From what was shown it’s clear that this game is still very much in development and so we can only hope we see it fully release at the beginning of next year.

We Happy Few

A new indie game was also shown off in the form of We Happy Few. A game that will look to play with your characters emotions,  taking so called “Happy Pills”, failing to take these pills looks to put you in the wrong place at the wrong time. For anyone looking for there next Bioshock game, this looks to be the one for you as it’s very clear that they are taking the art direction from that series.  You will be able to get your hands on it July 26th.

But those are just the key announcements from this year’s Mircosoft conference, stayed tuned throughout the week for more stories and let us know down below and on twitter what you thought of the conference too.

I've been playing games for as long as I can remember, in fact my first game was the in built sonic game for the Sega MegaDrive. So fair to say gaming is in my DNA. When not gaming however you can also find me at the cinema.
