Cancelled TV Shows 2015/16

Find out which TV Shows will not be returning to TV

The Spring always reveals which TV Shows and have been renewed and which have been cancelled. Unfortunately, there are some good shows that got the chop and some were expected. Let’s take a look at some …

The Muppets

THE MUPPETS - "Hostile Makeover" - In an attempt to make Miss Piggy happy, Kermit sets her up with Josh Groban who fills her head with ideas on how to make Up Late with Miss Piggy better. Meanwhile, Fozzie is invited to a party at Jay Leno's house and everyone is annoyed that Bobo is selling cookies for his daughter's troop, on "The Muppets" TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 29 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (ABC/Eric McCandless) UNCLE DEADLY, SCOOTER, KERMIT THE FROG

We’re very disappointed that The Muppets has been cancelled. The reason is said to be that the show was pulling in an average of 5.3 million Americans a week which was below target. The show also had some development issues due to a change in the production team after episode 10 of the show causing the remainder of the season to have a different feel. As the show has been cancelled it’s now a concern that after two successful movies spent reviving the loveable characters that the cancellation of the show means that we won’t see The Muppets for a very long time. You can see our review on the show here:

Agent Carter

Agent Carter being cancelled was not a surprise due to new of Hayley Atwell signing up to a new TV show, also with ABC. The show was receiving great reviews but was not pulling in the viewership that it needed to be revived. It may not be the last that we see of Peggy Carter though as hopefully she will appear somewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again soon …

This was also hardly a surprise. When we heard that Seth MacFarlane was involved in a new animated comedy we were excited to watch. The show was a dud from the start and received negative reviews. ITV2 heavily advertised Bordertown having recently acquired airing rights for Family Guy and American Dad! from BBC Three but only showed about 3 or 4 of the episodes. I think it’s safe to say that this show will not really be missed.

Rush Hour

Based on the hit movies this TV show about a couple of very different cops becoming buddies. CBS decided to cancel the show even though it has a strong production team from Bill Lawrence (Scrubs) and was pulling in about 6 million Americans per episode. The reason why it was cancelled is believed to be that because Warner Bros. own the rights and unless it was a huge hit the costs for CBS are too great to justify its return. You can still catch episodes on E4.

After 8 seasons on the air ABC has decided not to renew Castle for a ninth season. It came as a surprise as it was believed that the studio had negotiated with Nathan Fillion, Seamus Dever and Jon Huertas to return. However, the studio decided to not bring back Stana Katic for a ninth season which caused some fan backlash and that’s believed to be the reason why the show wasn’t renewed. Two different endings were shot for the season 8 finale, one to lead into a potential season 9 and one to wrap up the show. I think we know which was used.

The follow up to the 2011 film starring Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro has received the chop. It comes as a surprise as 9.8 million Americans were watching making it probably the most popular show of the cancelled list. CBS may have cancelled the show but it is thought that they are looking for another platform for the show.
